Soft burger or sandwich buns
They are soft and squeezable, ideal for burgers, sandwiches or even toasties.
Ingredients
- 55 g psyllium husk powder
- 50 g coconut oil
- 100 g sesame seeds ground to flour consistency
- 100 g sunflower seeds ground to flour consistency
- 200 g egg whites
- 7 g salt
- 15 g sweetener of choice I use Sukrin Gold
- 15 g baking powder
- 240 g boiling water
For the outside (optional)
- 30 g egg white
- 15 g sesame seeds
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven at 175oC, fan assisted.
-
Mix all ingredients in a bowl with a fork, except water and coconut oil.
-
Place the coconut oil in the boiling water to melt then add to the rest of the ingredients and mix again.
-
Let it stand for approximately 10 minutes for the psyllium husk powder to absorb the water and expand.
-
Form six buns of 130 g dough each. This is the ideal size for sandwiches and burgers -obviously make them smaller if you want them just for bread with food or a breakfast bun.
Wet your hands in order to form them as the dough is sticky without doing so.
-
Bake fot 45 minutes on parchment paper.
-
You can brush some egg white on the top and sprinkle sesame seeds.
